Glimpse …

Daytime stars shimmering white,
though no matter present there.
I sense not from where their light
escapes into autumn’s air.

For less than a single moment will
each pure brightened ray shine;
as my loping stride ambles still,
just not in a straight line.

Why does the wind breathe so calm?
Are the wispy clouds so few?
Trees set in relief away from
the rippling wakes moving hereto.

For fifteen years only have I known
the opportunity to view this expanse.
But this clearing abides such as shown
beyond any temporal reference.

And while the sun continues to shine
all across this glassy lake surface.
My walk renews with a sudden re-find
of concrete and sounds, this day’s purpose.

How fleeting to be dazzled there, to witness such that has stood almost without end.
Before yielding to bit and bridle, my harness of lists, unformed goals,
no time to spend

God provides a glimpse of peace, such relief.
Allowing a steady, purifying exhale.
At barely thirty strides and a stay so brief For You I clamber through the weekly trail.

A piece of Your creation known
by those with native homestead here.
As sapphire, it glistens, and it glows
For those who follow, who seek to hear.
